I became an insurance agent in June 1983.  I chose insurance because I wanted to help people.  I started my career of service as a child in scouts and later became a firefighter.  I was a firefighter for 31 years and retired from the department a few years ago.  I still help the department with special projects.

Starting as an agent in 1983, I sold accident policies for Combined Insurance Company.  A year later, I started my own agency, Tony Klein Insurance.  I wanted to specialize in Medicare Supplements, so I could help senior citizens.  I made a small office area out of our living room at the time.  Soon after selling Medicare, I branched out into Life Insurance and Annuities.  IRAs’ became popular in the ‘80s and helped to expand my company.  In 1993, Linda (my wife and assistant of 35 years), moved our home and office to our current location in Fruitland, Idaho.

I have recently aged into Medicare myself and would like to slow down.  I plan on enjoying more time fishing, spending time with my 9 grandchildren, and traveling.  I have been training our daughter, Jennifer Morishita, to continue our business.  This has been such a blessing to me.  She is self-motivated and very skilled at customer service.  She can process enrollments electronically, which is a skill I never attempted.  She is very trustworthy and capable of embracing our insurance legacy for many more years.  I am so proud of her.  The future looks very promising as I transition to a consultant.  I trust Jennifer wholeheartedly and I know that my business is in the right place leaving it in my daughter’s hands.

I started my career in Insurance a few years ago, when my father was looking to retire.  My passion has always been to help others.  When I first started this new adventure, I didn’t have a clue about Medicare, or how important a competent insurance agent can be.

For the past 17 years I have been a flight attendant.  I always wanted to travel, and up until Covid I loved serving passengers on the airplane.  Covid changed everything. I took a full year off, partially due to maternity leave. During that time, I worked to receive my insurance license.  I promised my dad I would try it, and also asked him not to hold any expectations.  I ended up loving working with his clients.  I wish I would have done it sooner.

My Dad has worked in the insurance business for forty years. When I first started training with him, it was eye-opening to me.  He doesn’t “sell” anything.  I have always considered him a salesman, but I learned that an agent’s responsibility is to help Clients in their search for answers regarding their individual insurance needs. He taught me it was best to get to know your clients.  What are their individual needs? Our focus is to then find the plans, tailored to their needs, and present them with options to make an informed decision.  There is no sales pressure involved.  This has truly taught me so much and changed my outlook dramatically.  My father’s reputation is everything to him and continuing that legacy with someone he can trust was of the utmost importance to our family.

I am still a flight attendant, however, I only fly 4 days a month.  I have found a way to balance insurance, flying, and raising our 3 children with my husband in Boise.  My husband owns and operates a construction company.  Our oldest daughter is 21, and will graduate in the spring from Boise State, with a Bachelors in Theater Arts. Our son is 8 and is in second grade.  He is very active and hard to keep up with.  The youngest daughter, was born in the middle of the pandemic and is now 3.  We enjoy Skiing in the Winter, and fishing in the Summer.
